It’s time we bridge the gap in Scarborough’s mental healthcare system
Donations are crucial to the sustainability of new charities. Help us create long-term change by becoming a ARC donor.
“Historically, the Black community has been placed at a disadvantage when it comes to their mental health, given their subjection to [intergenerational] trauma through enslavement, oppression, colonialism, racism, and segregation, much of which extends to the experience of mental health care inequity today.” – Mental Health Commission of Canada1
Our communities are exposed to a lack of culturally appropriate care, systemic inequality, inadequate access to health and mental healthcare, and internalized stigma that perpetuates harmful misconceptions about mental health.
Here at AGATA, we fight against inequalities and stigma by offering education first, support services, and safe spaces to empower vulnerable community members to take charge of their mental health and access the best, and most culturally relevant services available to them.
By donating to AGATA Resource Centre, you’ll play a major role in sustaining our wellness programs and services, keep fees low, employ and maintain our compassionate and educated staff, while also ensuring our existence for community members who need us! As a not-for-profit organization, we use 100% of your donations towards supporting the Black community in Scarborough, Ontario.
